i.e, 20MB for a song is OK, 200MB is not. Size of end file isn't that big a deal, so long as it's reasonable. Having said that, if a lossless format severely limits which devices can play it it may not be ideal. In addition, does anyone have a recommendation on the best tool to do this? Today I just use Windows Media Player. I want to rip all my wife's CD's to her system or to our home server but I'm not really sure which codec/format to convert the files to that will retain good sound quality but be flexible for streaming in the house or being played on a mobile device.
